A Correction

July 15, 2019

I’m writing this so e-mail subscribers will get it. Yesterday, I said Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez of New York, and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota were all born in the United States. While that’s true of the first three, Omar was born in Somalia in 1982, spent four years in a refugee camp, and moved to the United States in 1992.

President Donald Trump, apparently, thinks she should go back to the ravaged land from which her family fled. He stands in the ignominious heritage of those who refused to welcome the starving Irish when they fled the potato famine of 1845-1849.
