Russell Moore slaps down slammer of religious freedom

June 16, 2016

Dr. Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, repeatedly shows he’s a gentleman and a scholar. Watch and listen as he responds to a pastor who, apparently, knows little of his own Baptist history and theology (Baptists have always advocated religious liberty).

The question was posed in this form:

I would like to know how in the world someone within the Southern Baptist Convention can support the defending of Rights for Muslims to construct mosques in the United States when these people threaten our very way of existence as Christians and Americans. They are murdering Christians, beheading Christians and  imprisoning Christians all over the world …
Moore begins his response:
You know sometimes we have to deal with questions that are really complicated we have to spend a lot of time thinking them through and and and not sure exactly what the final result is going to be.  Sometimes we have really hard decisions to make. This this isn’t one of those things.
He takes it from there. And he does just fine.
